Hiscox supercharges energy leadership; taps 28-year MS Amlin veteran
London-listed specialist global insurer Hiscox has revealed a new leadership for its energy book of business as it looks to drive the adoption of new renewable energy technology and evolve with the changing needs of this fast-growing sector.
Lorraine Mackey (pictured right) has been promoted to line underwriter – oil and gas, and Louis Cozon (pictured left) to line underwriter - power and renewables. The pair will together lead Hiscox London Market’s energy offering, with Tim Welsh (pictured centre) as senior energy underwriter.
Mackey and Cozon have over 25 years of combined energy insurance experience and currently report to Hiscox London Market’s chief underwriting officer Paul Lawrence. They will manage an overall energy team of seven underwriters, based in Hiscox’s office in London. The team will now include Welsh, who brings a wealth of industry experience following a 28-year career at MS Amlin, including as global product leader energy.
Lawrence said: “Hiscox London Market is all about embracing risk in an evolving world, and few industries are evolving as rapidly as the energy sector. Lorraine, Louis and the wider team’s experience positions us well to support traditional energy producers on their journey to decarbonisation, as well as renewable energy providers, as part of our ongoing commitment to the sector and its changing needs.”
Lorraine added: “Tim will be a great asset to the team and his appointment further underlines Hiscox’s intention to lead in energy insurance. With a global appetite for energy clients and an intent to support new renewable energy technology, we will continue to build the Hiscox energy team over the next year to make sure we deliver leading services and innovation for our clients.”
