Hiscox London market CFO quits after a year; replacement revealed from Aspen
Specialist global insurer Hiscox's London Market and Hiscox Syndicates (HSL) chief financial officer (CFO) Christian Nielsen has left the company just over a year after assuming the top financial position. The carrier has revealed his replacement effective from February 2022.
Nielsen joined Hiscox in 2015 from Barclays, and before becoming the CFO of Hiscox London Market and HSL in June 2020, he served as the CFO of Hiscox UK and a director of Hiscox Insurance Company (HIC), the group’s UK insurance carrier.
He will be replaced by Helen Rose (pictured), who will sit on the leadership team for Hiscox London Market, acting as a strategic and commercial partner to the CEO.
Rose will report to Kate Markham, Hiscox London Market’s chief executive officer.
With more than a decade in the insurance industry, Rose has built an extensive career with Aspen Group, where she held a number of roles including insurance CFO, UK CFO and most recently as chief accounting officer. During her tenure, she has had first hand experience of managing finance transformation programmes, leading profitable businesses, and developing exceptional teams. Prior to her insurance career, Rose also spent ten years in banking working for Barclays including a position as senior finance operations manager.
Markham said: “ Hiscox London Market has ambitious plans across our portfolio and Helen will bring valuable finance experience and acumen towards the achievement of our goals. With a broad background in banking and insurance, she will provide a unique perspective to our business and I’m looking forward to welcoming her to the team.”
Rose added: “It’s an enticing prospect to join a business with Hiscox’s caliber and history. We are well placed to take advantage of improving conditions in the market and I’m excited to play a part in delivering long-term, profitable growth.”
