HFW makes senior hire for insurance practice

Holman Fenwick Willan (HFW) has hired senior expert Robert Haldane to strengthen its corporate and regulatory insurance practice.

Haldane joins HFW's London office as a consultant from Gunnercooke, where he was a partner. He previously spent more than 25 years as a partner at Stephenson Harwood, RPC, and Clifford Chance.

Insurance is a core sector for HFW where it offers a range of advisory, dispute resolution, transactional and regulatory legal services.

Christopher Cardona, global head of insurance and reinsurance at HFW, said: "I am very pleased to welcome Robert to HFW. He has a wealth of experience – including in many of our core sectors, such as maritime and aviation – and will be a real boost to our corporate and regulatory insurance practice, which is a key area of growth for us. We are constantly looking for opportunities to broaden and strengthen our offering to clients, to ensure that we continue to evolve with their changing needs."

Haldane commented: "I am very excited to be joining one of the market's leading insurance practices. HFW have an enviable reputation for complex international insurance, shipping and trade, and I've always been impressed by the expertise and pragmatism of their lawyers. The firm's significant international footprint, with specialist insurance lawyers around the world, also offers an excellent platform for my practice."
