Hamilton poaches Aspen exec to boost excess casualty units
Bermuda-headquartered specialty re/insurer Hamilton Insurance Group has appointed Fergus Fergusson as division head, excess casualty for Syndicate 4000, managed by Hamilton Managing Agency, and for Hamilton Insurance DAC, the company’s Dublin-based carrier.
“We’re delighted to welcome Fergus to our team,” said Hamilton Managing Agency CEO Tim Glover. “His deep and comprehensive experience with excess casualty insurance and his first-hand knowledge of the London and Dublin markets will be distinct advantages as we continue to develop this line of business.”
Fergusson joins Hamilton after nine years with Aspen Insurance UK where he held a series of increasingly senior positions, the most recent being head of international excess casualty. Prior to working at Aspen, Fergusson’s 18-year career was focused on trade credit and political risk insurance, with three and a half years spent underwriting and developing business at Coface and Euler Hermes Ireland and six years as head of special risks at International Risk Consultants.
