Guy Carpenter signals ambitious plans for European business

Global reinsurance broker  Guy Carpenter, a business of Marsh McLennan, has unveiled a number of leadership changes, including new hires from Hannover Re and SiriusPoint, to drive business growth in Europe as well as capitalise on new opportunities across the region.

Anders Nises (pictured left) has been named the new CEO of the Nordics region, and his role will commence in the second half of this year. Based in Stockholm, Nises will report to Dorothée Mélis-Moutafis, interim CEO of Europe. Additionally, Lisa Ljunggren (pictured right) has been appointed as head of analytics for the Nordics, starting in June 2023. Ljunggren, also based in Stockholm, will report to Eddy Vanbeneden, head of analytics for Europe.

Furthermore, Enver Karapinar (pictured centre) has been named head of facultative, Europe, and Riccardo Roveta, has been named head of facultative, Europe, London Branch. They will continue to be based in Hamburg and London respectively, and report to Mélis-Moutafis and Toby Wemyss, global head of facultative.

Nises will join Guy Carpenter from Hannover Re in Stockholm, where he is general manager for its P&C business with responsibility for treaty and facultative reinsurance in the Nordics. Prior to his current role at Hannover Re, Nises held various senior positions at Swedish insurance company Länsförsäkringar, including group manager, reinsurance.

Nises, in his new role as CEO of the Nordics region, will oversee Guy Carpenter’s broking activities in the region. He will focus on advancing the firm’s innovative approach to delivering sophisticated risk transfer solutions to clients. Additionally, Nises will collaborate with Marsh McLennan’s other businesses, including Marsh, Oliver Wyman, and Mercer, to enhance client outcomes and foster strategic partnerships.

As head of analytics for the Nordics, Ljunggren will be responsible for providing cutting-edge analytics and advisory services to clients in the region. With a wealth of experience in senior analytics and underwriting roles, including positions at RMS, Willis Re, Nephila, and Tokio Marine, Ljunggren brings valuable expertise to her role. She was most recently a technical underwriter at SiriusPoint, which she joined in 2016.

After serving as the head of facultative for Germany, Austria, and Switzerland at Guy Carpenter since 2019, Karapinar has taken on a new responsibility. In his new position, he is tasked with advancing Guy Carpenter’s facultative business in Europe while supporting new growth opportunities across the region.

As for Roveta, his focus lies in the London segment of facultative reinsurance for European clients. With over 22 years of experience, he joined Guy Carpenter’s Facultative team in 2015, specialising in casualty, specialty, and financial lines.
