Guy Carpenter poaches two senior executives from Aon
Global risk and reinsurance specialist Guy Carpenter & Company, a business of Marsh & McLennan Companies, has appointed Robert Johnston as chairman of Guy Carpenter’s Bermuda operations, and Peter Komposch as head of casualty and specialty, Bermuda, with immediate effect.
Johnston has nearly 20 years’ experience in Bermuda, most recently as president of Aon Reinsurance Solutions in Bermuda. He will report to John Trace, CEO of North America, and Kevin Fisher, chairman of UK and global specialties and chairman of London North America.
Komposch also has significant industry experience and was previously managing director of Aon Reinsurance Solutions, Bermuda. He will report directly to Robert Johnston and John Fletcher, CEO of Bermuda.
Commenting on these appointments, Trace said: “I am delighted to welcome Robert and Peter to Guy Carpenter. These appointments create an exciting opportunity to further build on our team, significantly increasing Guy Carpenter’s casualty expertise in Bermuda while deepening the connection to Guy Carpenter’s colleagues in North America and London.”
The appointments form part of the company’s continuing investment in its Bermuda operations as it looks to further enhance its position in the region and maximize the significant growth potential that Bermuda offers.
As part of the strengthening of its Bermuda platform, John Fletcher, who has led the Guy Carpenter team in Bermuda since 2018, has been appointed as CEO of Bermuda. He will continue to report to James Boyce, CEO of Global Specialties.
In addition, Jonathan Ogilvie has been appointed to head of retrocession, Bermuda, while Chris Dart has been appointed head of property treaty, Bermuda. All three appointments are subject to approval from the Department of Immigration in Bermuda.
Fisher added: “We see considerable opportunity for growth in Bermuda overall and specifically the casualty sector. By bringing together this exceptional team of broking talent under Robert and John’s leadership we are perfectly positioned to access that potential. Moving forward, we will continue to create market-advancing, client-centric solutions that will serve to boost our service delivery capabilities and help us strengthen existing relationships as well as forge new ones.”
