Guy Carpenter eyes Asia Pacific MGA market with Howden Tiger swoop
Global reinsurance broker Guy Carpenter, a business of Marsh McLennan, has made a key leadership hire in Asia Pacific from rival Howden Tiger as it looks to grow and capitalise on new and existing market opportunities in the MGA and programme sectors.
Steve Warwick (pictured) has been appointed as head of GC Access Asia Pacific.
With the swiftly evolving delegated authority market in the Asia Pacific region, GC Access Asia Pacific was set up in 2021 to meet the expanding needs of the dynamic programme market. The practice provides fully integrated and bespoke services in business planning, programme carrier selection, capital advisory and modelling.
In his new role, Warwick will focus on developing new opportunities and extending the breadth of Guy Carpenter’s innovative solutions, leveraging its analytics capabilities, rating advisory practice, contract expertise, and global network of insurer and reinsurer relationships.
Warwick brings over 40 years of experience to the role. He previously held senior roles within the reinsurance industry in the region, most recently as executive director, head of treaty Asia Pacific at Howden Tiger. Earlier in his career, Warwick held key leadership roles at broker Aon, including CEO of Greater China and managing director of Asia Pacific.
Tony Gallagher, CEO of Asia Pacific at Guy Carpenter, said: “The Asia Pacific region programme market has seen tremendous growth in recent years, creating lucrative potential for our clients to grow and capitalise on new and existing MGA opportunities. Building on the great work already in progress by the GC Access Asia Pacific team, I am confident that Steve will further enhance Guy Carpenter’s position in the MGA space with his decades of experience in the reinsurance and programme sectors.”
