Gen Re expands executive board with new appointments
General Reinsurance AG (Gen Re), German legal entity and the main risk carrier for Gen Re’s international business, has expanded its executive board with the appointment of two long-serving leaders.
Margaret McAuliffe and Alexander Zeller have been appointed to the executive board of General Reinsurance AG.
Margaret McAuliffe is General Reinsurance AG’s chief risk officer. She has been with Gen Re for more than 30 years and has held a number of management positions within our finance and risk management functions.
Zeller held various management positions in Gen Re’s European property & casualty treaty business. He will continue to be responsible for property & casualty treaty clients in Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Luxembourg, The Netherlands, Israel, and Central-, Eastern- and Southeastern Europe.
"Margaret has enjoyed a successful career in a variety of roles within our organisation, most recently as Chief Risk Officer of General Reinsurance AG since 2013; she is well positioned to take on this responsibility at the Executive Board level as well," said Mike O'Dea, chief financial officer of Gen Re. “Her appointment reinforces the importance of the risk management discipline to our corporate governance framework.”
Andrew D’Arcy, member of General Reinsurance AG executive board, and head of international property & casualty, added: “Alex has successfully grown our business in various international P/C reinsurance markets. His experience in providing valuable solutions to clients across a number of territories is a critical skill in serving modern reinsurance markets. He is a great addition to the Executive Board.”
Charlie Shamieh, Gen Re’s chairman and chair of the General Reinsurance AG executive board, said: “I’m delighted about these appointments. Margaret McAuliffe and Alexander Zeller are experienced executives who have been in the global reinsurance business for decades. They both bring deep re/insurance expertise and a strong strategic skill set to their new roles as members of General Reinsurance AG’s Executive Board.”
