Gard appoints chief underwriting officer in London

Gard, a shipowner-controlled provider of P&I, marine and energy insurance products, has appointed Magne Nilssen as chief underwriting officer London from March 1, 2020.

Bjornar Andresen, chief underwriting officer at Gard said: “London is a focal point for the global marine insurance industry, with almost one third of the world’s marine and energy premiums being placed there. As a market-leading player, we want to make sure our presence in this centre reflects its importance with a first-class team. The depth of Magne’s experience and breadth of expertise across our entire product range makes him an excellent fit.”

Nilssen will continue to lead Offshore Energy and Marine Builders Risk segment, while taking responsibility for all business routed through the London branch. He will report to group chief underwriting officer, Bjornar Andresen.
