Gallagher taps Willis talent to expand in Middle East and Africa
Global insurance broker Gallagher has hired a Willis Towers Watson regional director to develop its energy proposition in the Middle East and Africa.
William Peilow (pictured) will join Gallagher as partner in its specialty energy team. He will join in January 2022 and report to Nadim Semaan.
Peilow brings a wealth of experience in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) and wider Middle East where he has extensive relationships with risk managers, insurance and reinsurance companies as well as retail and wholesale distributors.
He has worked for over 13 years at Willis Towers Watson, most recently as a regional director for the Middle East and Africa within its natural resources team. He was responsible for managing client relationships across power & utilities, metals & mining and oil & gas, as well as leading its business development strategy for the region.
Whilst at Willis Towers Watson, Peilow was based in Dubai from 2014 to 2016 where he worked in its partner business, Al Futtaim Willis, before moving to its Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC) operation to drive its facultative reinsurance proposition and support the development of the regional reinsurance sector.
Jonathan Smith, managing partner for Gallagher’s energy practice, said: “We are delighted William is joining our team of energy specialists. He is a highly regarded insurance professional with in-depth knowledge of the energy markets and the Middle East. His recruitment demonstrates our continued commitment to provide clients with the best talent in the industry.”
Nadim added: “I am very pleased to have William joining our growing team and I am looking forward to working closely with him as we look to expand in the Middle East and Africa. His knowledge of these markets, plus track record for developing and delivering complex risk transfer programmes for clients sets him apart.”
