Gallagher Re looks to lure local talent, ‘actively’ hire for diverse roles
Global broker Gallagher Re plans to “actively” hire local talent for its new UK reinsurance hub, luring candidates at different skill and experience levels for a diverse range of roles with “tailored training programmes, competitive salaries and benefits” as it looks to expand its 300-strong regional workforce to support its growth agenda.
The company has invested in a new Ipswich-based regional reinsurance hub to support its growth agenda, and open up diverse career paths for local apprenticeship, graduate and experienced professionals.
The new hub will house a number of Gallagher Re’s senior management team including James Kent (pictured), Global CEO, Chris Brook, Global COO, Tom Wakefield, UK CEO, and Simon Behagg, UK COO, as well as local colleagues.
Gallagher Re stated that it is actively recruiting for 40 additional roles locally – across areas as diverse as catastrophe analytics, client service, IT project management, market security and global risk placement support.
Kent, global CEO of Gallagher Re said: “Investing in the creation of a new regional office space here in Ipswich, specifically designed to support flexible and agile working, underlines our commitment to the local area by creating diverse and dynamic roles for those just starting out in their careers, as well as experienced, seasoned insurance professionals.
“Across Gallagher Re's global footprint, we commit to serving our clients locally helping local communities such as Ipswich thrive with the creation of multiple career opportunities for local talent. Our existing Ipswich based colleagues will greatly enjoy connecting and collaborating in this new space, and we look forward to welcoming many more in the weeks and months to come.”
He continued: “Reinsurance is a unique, forward-looking and innovative industry offering a wide range of exciting opportunities to develop careers. Every day it helps companies, governments and even countries manage and mitigate risks, including emerging ones like cyber risk and climate change.”
Mayor of Ipswich, Councillor John Cook commented: “The insurance industry is vitally important to the Ipswich economy and I am delighted to open the new Gallagher Re office as they continue to support our local community.
“Ipswich is a great place to live and work, and I am excited that Gallagher Re will be recruiting locally and providing career opportunities for the community that will only have a positive impact as we cement our relationship going forward.”
