Gallagher hires QBE exec to lead Manchester operation
Gallagher has appointed James Fletcher to lead its Manchester operation as part of the company's strategic expansion plans for the UK North-West region.
Fletcher joins Gallagher after 10 years at QBE Europe, during which time he was based in the local Manchester insurance market, most recently heading up client solutions for the North.
The company said that Fletcher's appointment will see former branch director Paul Fairhurst take on the broader role of chairman for the North West, where he will continue working with clients, build Gallagher’s regional profile and assist in developing strategic M&A opportunities.
Gallagher’s Manchester operation houses specialists in trade credit, employee benefits, wealth management, claims and compliance.
UK retail CEO Michael Rea said: “With significant opportunities for both organic and inorganic growth, the North-West is a real area of focus for Gallagher’s strategic expansion in the UK. As we continue to invest in building out our regional presence and capabilities, James will make a fantastic leader for our team in Manchester. Not only is he well-known in the local insurance market, but his energy, enthusiasm and track record of total client focus means he is a great cultural fit for Gallagher.”
Fletcher commented: “I’m incredibly excited to join Gallagher at a time when it has transformed itself through acquisition and integration into a regional broking powerhouse right across the UK. I’m looking forward to getting to know our clients, ensure local businesses know the breadth and depth of what Gallagher has to offer and working with a great team in Manchester to develop and grow this business.”
