Former Flood Re CEO starts at AXA
Former Flood Re CEO Brendan McCafferty has taken up his new role as CEO for intermediated and direct at AXA.
McCafferty’s move to AXA was first announced in October 2016.
As part of the new role, McCafferty will be responsible for leading AXA insurance’s four strategic business units - commercial intermediary, personal intermediary and corporate partnerships, personal direct and retail partnerships and AXA business insurance.
Amanda Blanc, group CEO of AXA UK, said: “I speak for everyone at AXA when I say that we are delighted that Brendan has joined AXA Insurance. His excellent contribution to the Flood Re scheme has shown that he understands the evolving demands of consumers in the sector – which will be vital in his new role.
"Brendan brings a wealth of experience from both an underwriting and distribution perspective which makes him the ideal person to take AXA Insurance to the next level. Brendan will make this his own and I have every confidence that he will be a huge success here."
McCafferty added: "AXA is a modern insurer that is working hard to embrace disruptors and secure its place in the future of an ever changing sector. This is a business that has achieved what many said was impossible – year on year, profitable growth – so it is clear that I am joining a very successful company. However, we can’t afford to stand still and must keep innovating and developing our proposition to ensure that we not only continue to be successful but lead the way in our markets.
"I have a very strong team here and can’t wait to start working with them to build on the great successes achieved to date. There is much more to come from AXA Insurance and I look forward to leading that."
