Fidelis poaches Lancashire underwriter to lead marine expansion
Bermuda-based Fidelis Insurance has hired its new head of marine from rival Lancashire.
Paul Russell (pictured) most recently served as marine underwriter at Lancashire Insurance, having joined the firm in 2013. He has an extensive marine experience, having previously worked at Cooper Gay, Willis and Marsh.
Russell’s appointment is part of Fidelis’ overall marine expansion both internally and with its marine MGA Navium that commenced underwriting under Clive Washbourn in May 2021, which the company says has already established a “substantial material” market footprint.
Richard Coulson, chief executive officer of insurance and chief underwriting officer of Fidelis Underwriting, said: “We are looking forward to Paul joining our team as he brings with him a wealth of experience and client relationships that will further enhance Fidelis’ offering and uncompromising service and commitment to delivering the best insurance solutions for our brokers and clients.”
