Fidelis MGU expands on senior hires from AXA XL, Brit, Guy Carp
Fidelis MGU named three hires to its London underwriting and actuarial teams, taking is 2023 to-date hiring spree to 40 by nabbing talent from the likes of AXA XL, Brit and Guy Carpenter.
Daniel O’Connell becomes head of bespoke to oversee the group’s contingency, credit & political, political violence, terrorism and transactional liability underwriting. O’Connell joins from Axa XL where he spent almost three years as head of crisis management for the UK and Lloyd’s, and group CUO for crisis management and special risks. He held senior positions at Hiscox.
Armand van Hien (pictured) joins as head of marine cargo to not only oversee the marine cargo book of business but to also develop the Fidelis technology systems. He joins from Brit Insurance where he was a marine cargo underwriter. Prior to this, he spent six years at Chubb on the marine cargo team.
Greg Bowman becomes head of capital on the actuarial team and will be responsible for the company’s internal model, kee0ing it up to date with underwriting and outwards reinsurance needs. He joins Fidelis MGU from Guy Carpenter where he was most recently a broker actuary. Bowman has 12 years of experience as both a practitioner and consultant with a capital modelling background from a stint as head of capital at Hamilton and senior capital management roles at R&Q and WTW.
