Female board representation doubles at LMA; Ascot CEO re-elected as chair

The Lloyd’s Market Association (LMA) has reappointed the chief executive officer of Ascot Underwriting to serve as its chairman for a consecutive term, following a unanimous vote by its board.

Andrew Brooks’ (pictured) reappointment follows six new board members joining LMA in September, which almost doubled the number of women serving on the LMA board. This brought female representation to over a quarter as part of the LMA’s “drive to be more inclusive” and in line with its target for at least 30 percent of board members to be female and/or from an ethnic minority by the end of 2023.

Brooks has served as chairman since January 2019 and has been a member of the LMA board since 2012. His second three-year term will commence January 1, 2022.

Sheila Cameron, chief executive of LMA, said: “I am delighted that Andrew has agreed to continue in the role of Chairman and would like to thank him for his expert leadership of our Board of highly influential and talented executives. Andrew’s continued guidance and contribution has been invaluable in helping the LMA represent the best interests of the managing and members’ agent community”.

Brooks commented: “I am honoured to be reappointed LMA Chairman and look forward to continuing my work with Sheila Cameron to ensure the LMA is effectively representing the interests of its members and enabling the future success of the Lloyd’s market.”
