Extinction Rebellion attempts to shut Lloyd’s of London
Climate change activist group Extinction Rebellion has today (April 12) blocked the entrances to Lloyd’s of London as it attempts to disrupt the marketplace amid demands it stops insuring fossil fuels projects.
Supporters of Extinction Rebellion are staging protests in the heart of London’s busy financial hub waving flags, placards and blocking the entrances of Lloyd’s headquarters One Lime Street.
“We are aware of groups of protesters at Liverpool Street Station and the Lloyd's building on Lime Street,” the Metropolitan police tweeted. “Officers are at the scene and we will provide further updates.”
The activists claim they will continue disruption until the government stops all new fossil fuel investments.
