Everest Insurance hires seven execs to expand US property division

Everest Insurance, a subsidiary of Everest Re Group, has strategically expanded its property underwriting team in the US with seven key hires to expand in the retail, wholesale and inland marine areas.

“This expansion of, and investment in, all three property divisions (wholesale, retail, and inland marine) speaks to the opportunity that we see in the overall property marketplace as well as our continued desire to better serve our brokers and clients in each segment by continuing to add resources to deliver upon the Everest brand promise,” said Erik Nikodem, the head of property.

Patrick Mulready, Helena Meirhino and Lauren Valencia are the three executives joining its Boston-based wholesale property team.

Mulready has been appointed as vice president of the wholesale property division. He was most recently a property unit manager at Lexington Insurance, overseeing its wholesale property portfolio.

Meirhino has joined as an underwriting manager. With over 15 years of industry experience, she joins from Zurich Insurance where she was most recently a senior underwriter specializing in large account property. She has also held multi-line and multi-segment underwriting roles at both CNA and Allianz.

Valencia will take up the same role of senior property underwriter at Everest that she served at her previous employer Allied World Assurance Company. Prior to that, she has also worked at Connecticut Underwriters.

Furthermore, Everest has appointed two vice presidents (VPs) in its retail property team.

Victor Pena has joined as VP of the central region, based out of Chicago. He joins from CNA where he most recently served as the underwriting director of the Northern Zone. Prior to that, he has held various roles at Travelers Insurance across segments of property underwriting.

Mark Baroni has been brought in to serve as VP of the east region. He was previously a VP at Axis, handling the primary, excess, and facultative property portfolio in the national and middle market segments. Prior to his 14 years at Axis, Baroni was at CNA and St Paul Companies working on catastrophe modeling and large account business.

Lastly, company’s inland marine division also sees two new mangers joining its Chicago office.

Victor Twardowski has been hired as an associate manager from CNA, where he most recently served as underwriting specialist in its inland marine portfolio in the Kansas and Missouri territories.

Tyler James has been appointed as a manager. He joins from Arthur J Gallagher where he was charged with growth of Gallagher’s construction practice in the Midwest. Prior to that, he held various roles at CNA in its Chicago inland marine territory.
