Everest expands financial lines with swathe of hires and new unit
Bermuda-based Everest Re Group has expanded the financial lines division of Everest Specialty Underwriters (ESU) with a private company/not-for-profit (PC/NFP) unit and multiple key hires, the re/insurer said in a Feb. 20 press release.
The new unit, which will be led by recently appointed Salvatore Collura, aims to design creative insurance solutions to protect companies and management from shareholder disputes and employment-related issues to cyber threats.
“Everest is committed to growing its presence in financial lines, specifically in the private company/not-for-profit space," Collura said. "The deep technical knowledge of our team members, together with their collaborative work style and focus on service, sets us apart from our competitors. We are committed to providing creative and innovative product solutions and exceptional service to our customers and trading partners.”
In addition to Collura, the company has designated a new team of five professionals to build out the management liability unit.
Michael Truehart has been appointed vice president and head of the east region for the PC/NFP management liability team reporting to Collura. Truehart joins Everest from Transatlantic Reinsurance Company where he was an assistant vice president responsible for facultative underwriting across professional lines. Prior to this, he had over 10 years of management liability underwriting experience with CNA Insurance, where he served as zone leader in the Northeast, and ACE in the private company group.
Nicholas Isler, who joined Everest in October of 2015 as a director, will now be responsible for the PC/NFP product suite, reporting to Salvatore Collura. Isler has 12 years of experience underwriting financial lines. Prior to joining Everest, he was responsible for managing multiple regions across the country with both Arch Insurance Group and The Hartford.
Micah Maravankin has been named New York regional manager, responsible for overseeing the NY underwriting team and underwriting large complex accounts. He will be reporting to Truehart. Maravankin joined Everest in September 2016 from Chubb, where he managed broker relationships on both US coasts and the Mid-Atlantic region for their PC/NFP team.
Justine Garvey has been appointed executive underwriter with responsibility for underwriting various types of insureds and working with brokers in New York and San Francisco. Previously, Garvey spent five years at Chubb as a senior underwriter in the PC/NFP financial lines division servicing the east coast. She will report to Maravankin.
Lastly, Jonathan Tam has been tasked with the responsibility for underwriting various types of insureds and working with east coast brokers, also reporting to Maravankin. Tam joined Everest in July 2015 as an underwriting assistant in property and casualty lines. In June 2017, he joined the PC/NFP division as an associate underwriter.
