Echo Re taps former SCOR/Bernina Re exec as new CUO

Swiss-based reinsurer  Echo Re has recruited a former chief underwriting officer at SCOR as its new chief underwriting officer.

Paul Hertelendy succeeds Piotr Nowakowski who has been with Echo Re for nine years and who is leaving the company to pursue a new professional challenge.

Most recently, Hertelendy was chief reinsurance investment officer at Bernina Re and head of reinsurance at Credit Suisse ILS. Before this he held the position of chief underwriting officer specialty lines at SCOR. He was also a member of the executive committee of SCOR Services Switzerland.

“We very much thank Piotr for his contribution to develop Echo Re’s Underwriting activities throughout the last few years and wish him all the best for his professional and private future,” said Gilles Meyer (pictured), CEO of Echo Re.

“At the same time, we are very pleased to welcome Paul Hertelendy as our future chief underwriting officer who will join us on the 1st of March 2022. With his track-record and deep expertise of both P&C and Specialty Lines, he is the ideal candidate to further develop Echo Re’s growing footprint together with our strong Underwriting team. We wish Paul all the best in his new senior role in our company.”
