Deutsche Rück appoints new chief underwriting officer
Achim Bosch has been appointed chief underwriting officer for Deutsche Rück and the reinsurance division of the Association of German Public Insurers with effect from Jan. 1, 2019.
Bosch comes from General Reinsurance in Cologne, where, as an executive board member he was in charge of non-life contractual reinsurance in Germany, Austria, Switzerland, the Netherlands and Central and Eastern Europe. He was also responsible for facultative business in these markets.
Deutsche Rück offers reinsurance cover on the European insurance market, particularly for property insurance lines. Deutsche Rück and the reinsurance division of the Association of German Public Insurers form an administrative association. The reinsurance arm of the association offers reinsurance cover to public insurers with a focus on lines in which claims are settled over a long period.
Bosch will become a member of the executive board of the two reinsurers, responsible for non-life reinsurance.
"We're pleased to have gained an experienced specialist for this responsible position in our companies,” said Frank Walthes, chairman of Deutsche Rück’s supervisory board.
“Bosch has excellent knowledge and his qualifications are the ideal match for the remit we have outlined," Walthes added.
Frank Schaar, CEO of the two reinsurers, commented: "I am confident that Achim Bosch will give fresh impetus to the development of our reinsurance activities in our target markets and will provide valuable services."
