Consilium nabs Gallagher senior broker to head up ‘toughest’ line of business
International re/insurance broker Consilium, part of the Aventum Group, has hired a Gallagher executive to head up its “toughest” yet fast-growing line of business where it sees a huge opportunity for growth.
Nick Bird (pictured) has been appointed as new head of professional indemnity (PI).
Bird joins Consilium from Arthur J Gallagher, where he was a senior broker in its professional indemnity construction division. Prior to that, he was focussed on US PI risks as a broker at Thomson Heath and Bond. He has vast experience in placing a range of PI risks including exposure to large complex accounts.
Matt Pini, managing director of Consilium, said: “Professional indemnity is a fast-growing line of business for Consilium, and like us Nick is focussed, driven and ready to tackle the challenges of what is currently one of the toughest classes of business that brokers place.
“Whilst others are exiting the market, we see huge opportunity for growth. I am delighted to welcome Nick to the team; our future is driven by our brokers winning and his expertise will help establish us a lead wholesale broker in PI, delivering solutions and a level of service that our partners simply cannot find elsewhere.”
Bird committed: “ Consilium is a place where talent is nurtured and rewarded. They are an exciting business with an excellent reputation, and I’m thrilled to become part of the team and play my part in its journey to becoming one of the biggest and best (re)insurance wholesale businesses in the world.”
