Conduit appoints ex-Prudential investor relations specialist to board
CHL, the parent company of Conduit Re, a pure-play reinsurance business based in Bermuda, has appointed an investor relations specialist with a background at Prudential and Norwich Union as non-executive director.
Rebecca Shelley (pictured) brings extensive commercial and financial services experience to Conduit Re board, with her strong background in investor relations and communications roles at public companies. She will serve on CHL's Nomination and Remuneration Committees, and will join Conduit's ESG Committee.
Shelley currently serves as a non-executive director of Sabre Insurance, Liontrust Asset Management and Hilton Food Group. In her various non-executive director roles, she has served on remuneration (including as chair), nomination, audit and risk committees and as the senior independent director. She is also chair of the sustainability committee at Hilton Food Group.
Shelley was investor relations and corporate communications director at Norwich Union from 1998-2000, before moving to Prudential in 2000, starting as investor relations director, and then becoming group communications director with a seat on their group executive committee.
From 2012 to 2016, Shelley was the group communications director of Tesco and a member of the executive committee. During this time she held positions on the board of the British Retail Consortium and was a trustee of the Institute of Grocery Distribution. In her final executive role, Shelley spent three years at broker TP ICAP as group corporate affairs director, and was a member of the global executive committee.
Neil Eckert, executive chairman, CHL, said: "I am delighted to welcome Rebecca to our Board. She brings a wealth of public company and City experience. Along with extensive knowledge of financial services, she has a strong background in investor and public relations and in sustainability. She is also the Senior Independent Director of two other UK public companies."
Trevor Carvey, chief executive officer, added: "We look forward to benefiting from Rebecca's experience and considerable expertise as we continue to build the business on the strong foundations put in place to date."
