Chubb top underwriting and claims officer retires after 40 years

Chubb’s deputy chair overseeing group global underwriting and claims, Paul Krump (Pictured), will retire at year end, CEO Evan Greenberg wrote in internal correspondence to the group’s entire staff.

Chubb gave no indication of a replacement selection process.

Krump has more than 35 years of insurance industry experience. In his current executive role, he oversees underwriting policy and standards-setting, and provides operational direction and oversight in underwriting execution across Chubb's P&C product lines globally, including all commercial P&C, personal lines and accident and health.

Prior to his current role, he served as EVP of Chubb Group and president for North America commercial and personal insurance. Prior to ACE’s 2016 acquisition of Chubb, Krump was chief operating officer of The Chubb Corporation which he had joined in 1982 in the Minneapolis office.

CEO Greenberg overflowed with praise for Krump’s contribution, calling the veteran “an example to all of us of how to craft and live our professional lives.” Krump is a “deep and knowledgeable thinker about risk, pricing and contract wording at a granular level” to shame what Greenberg considers the current generation of single-line specialists, Greenberg wrote.
