Chubb replaces Pozzi with Gunter to head up North America commercial unit
Property/casualty insurer Chubb has appointed Scott Gunter as senior vice president, division president of North America commercial insurance, succeeding Steven Pozzi who is set to retire at the end of the year.
Gunter most recently served as chief operating officer in Chubb's North America personal risk services division. Prior to the ACE acquisition of Chubb in January 2016, he served as Chubb commercial insurance global chief underwriting officer.
In his new role, Gunter will report to Paul Krump, executive vice president, Chubb Group president, North America commercial and personal insurance. He will have the executive operating responsibility for the retail commercial property/casualty (P&C) insurance business that serves the middle market in North America, through 48 offices in the US and Canada. His responsibilities encompass strategy, production, product development and management, and P&L (profit and loss) performance, the company said in a statement.
Krump said: "Scott's deep expertise and industry knowledge as well as his proven leadership capabilities position him perfectly to meet the complex underwriting and servicing needs of our commercial customers in North America. I look forward to working with him even more closely to generate exceptional results for the organisation."
Through the remainder of 2017, Pozzi will ensure a successful transition, and will also serve as an advisor on special projects for Chubb's North America and overseas general divisions.
Pozzi, who is retiring after 36-year career in the insurance industry, joined The Chubb Corporation in 1981 as a commercial underwriter trainee, and during the course of his career held a number of underwriting and managerial positions with the company. Prior to the acquisition, Pozzi was Chubb commercial insurance global chief operating officer, and since January 2016 he has played the role of SVP, Chubb Group and division president of North America commercial insurance for the combined organisation.
"For more than three decades, Steve has been a trusted and dependable partner to Chubb," Krump commented. "He has my deepest thanks for his outstanding contribution, and I look forward to working with him and Scott on a smooth transition in addition to his continued endeavors for the company."
