Chubb appoints regional manager to lead commercial insurance in US
Property/casualty insurer Chubb has appointed Alexander Wells as regional manager for the Northeast and mid-Atlantic regions of the company's commercial insurance division in North America.
Wells succeeds Jeffrey Updyke, who was recently named Chubb's chief operating officer of North America field operations.
Reporting to Scott Gunter, SVP Chubb Group and division president, North America commercial insurance, Wells will be responsible for executing the underwriting and sales strategies of this business unit, as well as staff management, production, profit and loss, and distribution management.
Prior to his most recent assignment as the North American manager of Chubb's specialty casualty and construction unit, he was the COO of the ACE Westchester specialty casualty division. He joined The Chubb Corporation in 1992 as an inland marine underwriting trainee, and has held several positions with increasing responsibility at several branches before joining ACE in 2006, as the North American manager of excess casualty for the middle market and construction segments.
"Alex has been instrumental in the success and continued growth of Chubb's specialty casualty and construction," said Gunter. "I'm confident that his deep knowledge and leadership skills will complement Chubb's strong underwriting team in the regions."
