Charles Taylor hires senior AXA XL exec to lead growth in China
Insurance services firm Charles Taylor Adjusting (CTA) has hired a senior executive from AXA XL to help grow its business in the fast-growing and dynamic Chinese market.
Derik Chen (pictured) has been appointed as Greater China regional director. In this role, he will have oversight of the company’s growth in China and Taiwan, as well as lead the establishment of the property and casualty adjusting business in Taiwan.
Before joining CTA, Chen worked as a claims manager with AXA XL in Greater China. He has over 25 years of experience in the insurance industry having managed claims arising from natural disasters and defective equipment, product liability claims and loss adjustment. Chen has handled several high-profile and complicated multi-million-dollar claims/losses over the years with clients in China, Malaysia, Taiwan and the US Virgin Islands.
Based in Singapore, Chen will be reporting to Wee Loon Yong, CEO (Asia property & casualty) at CTA.
Charles Taylor Adjusting's local marine operation has been operating in China for over 15 years. Its current coverage includes local networks in major cities such as Dalian, Tianjin, Beijing, Qingdao, Shanghai, Guangzhou and Chengdu. CTA's goal is to be able to serve local and international clients with an efficient, flexible and technical service.
