Century Underwriting launches liability underwriting division
Century Underwriting, a specialist commercial managing general agent, has introduced a new liability underwriting division and made two senior appointments.
Tony Collman is appointed to lead the development and growth of the division with new opportunities within liability and construction markets. Collman joins from Gresham Underwriting where he was chief underwriting officer.
Collman said: “Maintaining Century’s focus on offering specialist products to regional brokers who require a more bespoke underwriting approach, we will be targeting liability and construction risks that can be written on a stand-alone basis without property coverage if required.”
To support this new underwriting division and the current suite of products, Century has also appointed Steve Gibbons to the new role of head of business development.
Gibbons’ focus will be on building Century’s profile in the market, developing existing and new broker relationships and supporting the underwriting teams in the profitable growth of their portfolios. He joins from XBroker where he was responsible for Business Development across the UK.
Gibbons said: “This is an exciting time to join Century. Whilst known in the market for its Motor capabilities, the expansion of the portfolio brings more opportunities for the regional broker market.”
Guy Fraser, CEO of Century Underwriting, said: “Our ability to attract such high calibre individuals as Tony and Steve demonstrates the appetite for further growth.
“The team’s hard work since our launch in 2011 has been an important part of achieving this. With our expanded team and portfolio we look forward to working with our brokers and capacity providers to build on our already successful UK franchise.”
