Capsicum poaches Tysers trio to build professional liability capabilities

Capsicum Delegated Authority (Capsicum DA), a specialist binding authority broker, has hired David Doe from Lloyd's broker Tysers to establish a new professional liability specialism.

Doe is joined by Sue Korth and Jonathan Doel having previously worked together at Lloyd’s broker Tysers. The team will be based in London and responsible for building out Capsicum DA’s capabilities into the professional liability arena, growing the business across multiple territories, with a particular focus on North America. Together they will offer a full underwriting service, able to bind and manage professional liability underwriting contracts on behalf of Lloyd’s underwriters, as well as provide a full broking service for binding authority placements.

As head of the unit, Doe brings nearly 40 years of specialist industry experience, having started out in professional liability insurance with Lloyd’s broker JH Minet. Most recently, he was a director at Tysers, responsible for its special lines business, which offered a mix of US and international professional liability, Lloyd’s binding authority contracts and open market business.

Chris Hardcastle, managing director at Capsicum DA, said: “We are delighted that Sue, David and Jonathan have chosen to join Capsicum DA. We continue to invest in broadening our expertise and product footprint, building our capabilities for the benefit of our customers. The specialist knowledge this team has means we can immediately offer a wide range of additional client services. We look forward to welcoming them all to the team.”

Doe commented: “Capsicum’s ambitious, independent culture is an exceptional fit for the entrepreneurial approach of myself, Sue and Jonathan. The opportunity to further diversify Capsicum’s offering is exciting, and I look forward to using our combined expertise to support the continued delivery of efficient, innovative solutions for clients.”
