Canopius hires Hartford leader for strategic US and Bermuda expansion

Global specialty re/insurer  Canopius has hired a senior  Hartford executive who has more than 15 years of actuarial and insurance experience to its US leadership team as it continues its expansion in the US and Bermuda markets.

Ruchama Graff will serve as US head of actuarial, and oversee actuarial reserving functions and technical pricing for business underwritten in the US and Bermuda markets. Graff will report to Lisa Davis, chief executive, US and Bermuda.

Graff brings more than 15 years of actuarial and insurance leadership experience to her new role. Most recently, Graff served as actuary, global specialty and global reinsurance reserving for The Hartford Financial Services Group where she managed The Hartford Global Specialty and Assumed Reinsurance reserving team. Prior to her position at The Hartford, Graff held actuarial leadership positions at The Navigators Group and Liberty International Underwriters.

Graff is the latest executive to join the Canopius leadership team in the US. Under the leadership of Davis, Canopius continues to build out its leadership team and add top talent, having increased staff by more than 30% since 2020. In the last 18 months, Canopius USA appointed Greg Alcazar as chief financial officer, Serena Lee as general counsel, Adam Finkle as chief operations officer, and most recently, Coleman Johnson, chief underwriting officer, US and Bermuda.
