Canopius expands US management & professional lines with senior hire

Specialty re/insurer Canopius has appointed William Kelly (Bill) as senior vice president in the US management & professional lines team to further expand its offering in the US.

The team currently offers excess pact, private pact and executive pact products, which will be available countrywide on both an admitted and non-admitted basis.

Kelly has 25 years of experience in various senior underwriting and management roles, specialising in professional and management liability lines. He spent 12 years at Chubb Insurance in New York and California, before moving to Arch Insurance as regional vice president. He was then a vice president of commercial D&O for Hartford Financial Products, before joining Argo Pro in 2015 as a senior vice president managing the E&O underwriting team.

Kelly will be based in Canopius' New York office and report to Laurie Banez, head of US management & professional lines.

Banez said: “Bill is widely respected by brokers and clients and has a diverse background of management and professional lines experience. As we expand our offering in the US, we continue to focus on doing so in the right way and with the right people, so I am delighted to welcome Bill to the team and I look forward to adding more top talent and introducing new products and services throughout 2018.”
