Canopius backs medical insurance provider SecurityTrust
Private medical insurance provider SecurityTrust has secured seed funding from Mci Asset Management as well as underwriting capacity from Canopius and via the coverholder Compass Underwriting.
SecurityTrust offers global access to new medical treatments such as stem cell treatment, proton beam therapy and immunotherapy.
The provider’s medical insurance plan ‘MediVISA’ offers access to treatments not offered in the UK by the NHS for conditions such as cancer, heart diseases, neurological conditions and other illnesses.
According to the firm, ‘MediVISA’, which is available direct and to all brokers, offers access to treatments through private UK hospitals and international medical centres providing new and innovative therapies. Other treatments offered include bone marrow and organ transplantation.
“There have been a number of recent high-profile cases of patients desperately seeking help through crowdfunding websites to try and find money for potentially life-saving medical attention which simply isn’t available through the NHS,” said David Abingdon, SecurityTrust CEO.
“I believe MediVISA is a unique, low-cost insurance product that can provide access for patients with life threatening illnesses to the most cutting-edge medical treatments available in the world today.”
MediVISA provides a claims service, second medical opinion, lump sum and daily cash allowance as well as travel and accommodation expenses for both the insured and a companion.
