Brit hires former Argo exec to lead new cyber team in US
Specialty insurer Brit has launched a new US-based cyber and technology team with the appointment of Michael Carr as senior vice president to lead the offering.
Carr will be based in Chicago and will begin writing business in April.
He was formerly the technology practice leader for Argo Group and has over 30 years of experience in the insurance industry. For the past three years, Carr also served as a founding co-chair of the Professional Liability Underwriting Society's cyber symposium.
The new cyber and technology team will offer local expertise and services to small and medium-sized enterprises (SME) sector in the US, complementing its existing London-based platform.
Nick Davies, president of Brit Global Specialty Americas, commented: "Michael brings a wealth of experience that will enable Brit to capitalize on one of the fastest growing segments in the insurance market today. Michael's appointment enhances our existing footprint in the broader US casualty market and provides Brit with the expertise to underwrite business locally that would not otherwise make its way to Lloyd's."
Matthew Wilson, Group CEO for Brit, added: "As we continue to take advantage of the agility of our US underwriting platform, Cyber and Technology was a next logical step for profitable growth. With a focus on specialty E&S business, our US platform is driving sustainable growth for the Group in our largest and fastest growing market. We are delighted to welcome Michael to Brit."
