BMS Re attracts Toa Re CUO to help accelerate growth strategy
Broker BMS Re has added an experienced reinsurance executive to its origination team as part of its growth strategy.
Jerry Farrell joins BMS Re as executive vice president. Based in New York, he will join the origination team and report to Mark Wells, head of sales administration, and Pete Chandler (pictured), president and CEO of BMS Re.
Farrell has more than 25 years’ experience and a deep understanding of professional liability, particularly in the E&O, D&O and financial lines. As part of the origination team, he will help BMS Re bolster its growth and diversification initiatives.
Before joining BMS Re, Farrell spent 10 years at Toa Reinsurance Company where he was executive vice president and chief underwriting officer, where he was responsible for P&C underwriting results for North America and worked closely with their executive board to drive its strategic growth. He has also held several senior roles at Allied World Reinsurance and Folksamerica Reinsurance.
Chandler said: “As BMS Re continues to expand, it is essential that we carry on attracting industry-leading individuals who will strengthen our capabilities and support our longer-term vision. The recruitment of Jerry is an important advance in our efforts to achieve the progress we’re looking for. His specialist knowledge in the reinsurance sector will be a great asset to us. We are fortunate to have Jerry on board.”
Farrell added: “ BMS Re has a well-deserved reputation in the professional liability space, and I am thrilled to join them at a time when the market is presenting such fantastic, transformative opportunities. The landscape has shifted dramatically, and it is an especially exciting time for independent reinsurance brokers, particularly one positioned as well as BMS Re.”
