BMS continues expansion in property treaty space with new hire
Specialist re/insurance broker BMS Group has added David Cameron, who previously worked at RenRe, Guy Carpenter and Aon in a variety of senior roles, to its US property treaty team.
BMS has recently made several senior hires in the US property space that it sees as a "key growth area" in both the near and long term.
Cameron will join the group as executive vice president, property treaty. He will join BMS’s Edina, Minnesota office and report to Pete Chandler, president and CEO of BMS Re.
He will work closely with chief property officer Jeff Irvan, and chief analytics officer Kirk Conrad to expand the unit's product offerings.
Cameron was most recently a senior advisor at Renaissance Re from 2015 to 2019, and brings 30 years of reinsurance experience across nearly all lines of business, especially property treaty, including stock, mutual, reciprocals, and Lloyd’s Syndicates.
He began his career as a reinsurance broker at EW Blanch in 1989, before joining Guy Carpenter in 2000 and then returning to Benfield Blanch in 2001. He remained there in a range of senior roles as it became Benfield and finally Aon Benfield.
Chandler commented: “Our reinsurance operation is rapidly growing with a number of senior hires in recent months. We will continue to build out our capabilities and are resolute in our ambition to become the independent broker of choice. We are client-focused, analytics-driven, and know that exceptional talent creates outstanding results for our partners. David’s extensive experience will contribute significantly to our strategic expansion in the Property Treaty space and I am very pleased to welcome him to BMS.”
Cameron said: “BMS has an exceptional reputation in the market for its data-driven, client-centric approach, and has been expanding its offering in both the US and globally. There are significant opportunities in the treaty reinsurance space and I am looking forward to working with Pete, Jeff and Kirk to provide the market with best-in-class advice and brokerage services and to help with BMS’s continued build-out.”
