BMS appoints new US chief casualty officer from OneBeacon
Re/insurance broker BMS Group has appointed Jonah Pfeffer as chief casualty officer at BMS Re US. He comes from OneBeacon Insurance Group.
Pfeffer joins BMS with 23 years of experience in the reinsurance markets, most recently as president of reinsurance at OneBeacon. Prior to that, he spent more than 10 years at Guy Carpenter, having begun his reinsurance career at E.W. Blanch Company in 1997.
In his new role, Pfeffer will report to Pete Chandler, president and CEO at BMS Re US, and focus on the strategic direction of BMS’s casualty offering.
Chandler said: “We continue to invest in the development of our P&C Reinsurance Broking Team, and we are constantly on the lookout for market-leading individuals to join our growing division. Adding Jonah to lead our Casualty Practice will definitively strengthen the entirety of our Casualty offerings.
He added: "Jonah’s unique combination of reinsurance and primary insurance expertise adds to our capability to understand our clients’ business and develop and execute responsive solutions to help them meet their goals. When coupled with the depth and breadth of value we are providing our customers through our actuarial, operational and analytic colleagues, our knowledge and experience based differentiators are absolutely clear. I am looking forward to working with Jonah to continue our expansion of the BMS Re casualty placement, production and execution platform.”
Pfeffer commented: “The current market presents a tremendous opportunity in the casualty reinsurance space for a flexible, independent broker with strong analytical resources and focus. Pete and his team have been making an impression on the US market and I am looking forward to working with them to continue to build and grow the BMS platform for the benefit of our clients and prospective clients.”
