Besso Insurance Group appoints head of Besso Re
Besso Insurance Group, the London headquartered Lloyd’s insurance broker, has appointed David Merry as head of Besso Re.
Merry has around 35 years’ experience as a broker in the London and international wholesale insurance markets. He joined the firm in 2018 to explore strategic growth and development opportunities for the Besso group.
Besso Re will be focusing on facultative reinsurance and solutions for international wholesale P&C for large commercial insureds complementing the existing capabilities of Besso’s existing international division.
Over the past year, Besso Re has been gearing up through the recruitment of practitioners with significant facultative reinsurance and large account experience. They will work closely with Besso’s other divisions to offer a service to clients exploiting all facets of the D&F market. The team, which will continue to grow in the coming months, includes divisional director Ross Beeden, operations director Andrew Coleman, divisional director Nikki Melbourne, divisional director Rob Pound, divisional director Simon Richardson and executive director Jason Savage.
David Merry said: “Facultative reinsurance is an area where we can bring additional value to our clients, complementing our wholesale offering and working across Besso teams to provide cogent solutions for our clients in a challenging market. We know that there is keen client demand for brokers offering an independent view combined with relevant scale and that is exactly what we provide without the constriction of organisational silos. It is encouraging to see our approach attracting talented individuals who share our straightforward view of how to extract maximum performance across Besso Re to the benefit of our clients.”
