Berkshire’s BHSI reveals new UK head of national business

Berkshire Hathaway Specialty Insurance (BHSI), a wholly owned subsidiary of Warren Buffett’s Berkshire Hathaway, has appointed a new head of national business, UK.

Mark Walker (pictured) will become the UK head of national business. Based in Manchester, he will retain his current role of head of customer & broker engagement UK at BHSI until a replacement has been found.

Walker has over 35 years of industry expertise. He has held prominent leadership roles at global carriers across the UK, Latin America, the Caribbean, and Asia. Prior to joining BHSI in 2019, he worked at QBE, most recently as head of SME, affinity & digital, Asia Pacific.

Nick Major, UK country manager of BHSI, said: “BHSI has created an industry-leading underwriting team focused on providing our property, casualty and specialty lines for National customers and brokers outside of the London Market. We are excited to have Mark leading this team’s efforts to bring all the benefits of BHSI – our full breadth of products, financial strength and claims is our product philosophy – to market as we accelerate our growth in this important business segment.”
