Beazley pushes recent hire into top international D&O vacancy

Specialist insurer  Beazley has tapped a recent hire from 2021 to fill a top role in international management liability to plug a vacancy due from a pending retirement.

Oliver Wheeler (pictured, right) will succeed the outgoing Catherina MacCabe (pictured, left) as Focus Group Leader for international management liability (IML), specialty risk. MacCabe retires at mid-year. Emma Pereira has also been promoted to Product Leader for the team.

Wheeler is a recent addition to  Beazley, having come on board in 2021 after a stint as D&O practice leader at Aon London. Wheeler previously held underwriting and leadership roles with Chubb, Axis and Liberty, and has successfully managed Financial Lines portfolios in New York and Madrid.

Beazley's head of international specialty risks Gerard Bloom said: “Catherina will leave a legacy of underwriting excellence, and under her leadership, the IML team has gone from strength to strength.”

Gerard added: “The strength and depth of the IML team is evidenced by Oli taking over the reins, supported by Emma who also starts her new role on the 1st July. Their combined talents and experience will be invaluable as we seek to deliver our ambitious growth plans and help our clients to navigate the increasingly tricky liability risk landscape they face in these turbulent times.”
