Beach poaches Aon Benfield exec to lead casualty treaty
Beach & Associates has appointed Daniel Shaw as senior vice president to lead its wholesale property and casualty treaty division in London.
He will be based in the London office and report to Jason Howard, CEO London and International.
Shaw brings almost two decades of experience in the insurance industry to Beach. Most recently, he was a North American casualty treaty reinsurance broker at Aon Benfield.
Prior to this, Shaw served as an account manager for the US property treaty team at EW Blanch. Shaw began his broking career at CE Heath, placing Caribbean and Latin American property treaty business.
Howard said: “The broking market is changing. It also faces severe challenges. To overcome them, brokers will need to innovate their traditional business models and focus on delivering independent, un-conflicted advice and transactional expertise.
“They must compete on expertise, not on leverage. This is central to our approach at Beach. Daniel is an established expert who shares our philosophy. His experience and deep knowledge of this sector will significantly enhance our proposition and help cement our position in the market. I am very pleased to welcome him to the team.”
