AXIS Re swoops for MS Amlin underwriter for property reinsurance at Lloyd’s
AXIS Re, the reinsurance business segment of Bermuda-based AXIS Capital Holdings, has appointed MS Amlin's William Bennett as senior underwriter, property reinsurance at Lloyd’s.
Bennett was most recently a lead underwriter at MS Amlin, responsible for operations within the firm’s North American property reinsurance team, as well as leading strategy and planning for its small and medium mutual insurance book. Before joining MS Amlin in 2001, Bennett was an assistant underwriter at Mumford Syndicate. He was also a claims broker, placing broker and divisional director for Willis Re from 1990-1999.
Bennett will join AXIS in March 2019 and will be responsible for underwriting all property reinsurance lines at Lloyd’s for AXIS Re, with a particular focus on US regional and mutual property reinsurance business.
Based in London, Bennett will report to Jonathan Gray, head of property reinsurance at Lloyd’s for AXIS Re.
“William is a recognised leader in the Property Reinsurance market at Lloyd’s, and has a strong reputation among key brokers in that market,” said Rob Smart, interim president of global markets at AXIS Re. “He is an important addition to our team and will help us further enhance our client engagement model as we seek to achieve a leadership position in the Property Reinsurance market at Lloyd’s.”
