AXA XL taps 15-year insider to lead life, accident & health lines for UK & Lloyd’s
AXA XL has tapped a lifetime accident and health exec with 15 years within its own ranks to lead its business on the UK and Lloyd's markets amid "a new wave of opportunities and challenges for employers and their employees."
Andrew Maynard steps up immediately to lead all underwriting activities for the UK & Lloyd’s A&H business from his most recent post of global product lead for wholesale life, accident and health.
Maynard had previously been with AXA in Singapore as part of a 15-year stint with the group that began in 2007. He had previously hailed from Pacific Life Reinsurance (previously Scottish Re Life Reinsurance UK).
Andrew Underwood, chief underwriting officer - specialty, UK and Lloyd’s, said: “Advances in technology and the introduction of new ways of working – such as hybrid working or the gig economy – are bringing a new wave of opportunities and challenges for employers and their employees.
“We need to ensure our understanding is at the forefront of developments around these, so that we can help give our clients the clearest possible picture of the changing risk environment and support them in managing their evolving risks. Key to this is ensuring we have the right talent and expertise within our teams: I’m certain that Andrew’s strong leadership and extensive industry experience – in insurance and reinsurance within both UK and International markets – position him ideally to lead our A&H business in the UK.
“I’m delighted he’s taking on this new role and I’ve no doubt that we’ll continue to develop our business while delivering an exceptional service to our clients under his watch.”
