AXA XL plucks 20-year Aon veteran for top cyber leadership role

Re/insurer  AXA XL has tapped a 20-year Aon veteran to lead its cyber line of business in the UK and  Lloyd’s market.

Vanessa Leemans (Pictured) joins AXA XL as head of cyber, UK & Lloyd’s.

Leemans will be responsible for leading AXA XL’s cyber business in the UK and driving its strategic, profitable development.

She started her career 20 years ago at Aon in Belgium, followed by 16 years in the London market, where she progressed through various roles. Since 2016, she has held cyber leadership positions in Aon Cyber Solutions as global chief operating officer, chief commercial officer EMEA/UK, and chief broking officer EMEA/UK.

Andrew Underwood, chief underwriting officer – specialty, UK & Lloyd’s, said: “The cyber market continues to experience strong demand as companies look for a trusted partner to cover increasingly complex technology risks.

“We are strengthening our cyber presence in London under Vanessa’s leadership and are very pleased to welcome her to the business. As a seasoned industry professional, her extensive cyber insurance expertise and broader cyber security and risk knowledge make her well-placed to lead our business in the UK.”
