AXA XL picks replacement chair for UK supervisory roles

AXA XL will lose its board chairs at units AXA XL Underwriting Agencies and AXA XL Insurance Company UK at year-end, and picked a replacement from among board members with a heavy tech and financial services background.

Nigel Hinshelwood (pictured), a fresh pick as non-executive director to the AXA XL UK Boards from just one week ago, has been approved by the Boards of Directors to succeed Claire Ighodaro, who retires at year-end.

Hinshelwood is a global supervisory board veteran. He is senior independent director at Lloyds Bank and Bank of Scotland. He sits on committees across the IT and Cyber Advisory Forum. He is deputy chair of Ikano Bank and a member of the Adobe International Advisory Board. His last executive roles came as head of HSBC UK and deputy CEO of HSBC Bank Plc.

Hinshelwood commented: “I’m delighted to have been asked to succeed Claire and I look forward to working with the Board, the AXA XL UK leadership team and colleagues from AXA Group, to help build on the success of the past few years and continue to drive the UK business forward with confidence and purpose. I’d like to take this opportunity to thank Claire for her support in helping to steer the UK business through the past five years and the unimaginable challenge of COVID-19.”
