AXA SA gets regulatory nod to operate as licensed reinsurer
AXA Group’s holding company AXA SA has received regulatory approval from the Autorité de contrôle prudentiel et de résolution (ACPR – the French Prudential Supervision and Resolution Authority) to operate as a licensed reinsurer.
The move is part of the planned transformation of AXA SA into AXA Group’ s internal reinsurer in a bid to “enhance capital fungibility across AXA Group” in line with the company’s capital management policy.
AXA SA intends to reinsure part of its European P&C carriers through annually renewable quota share reinsurance treaties.
The transformation will be complete following the merger of AXA SA and its captive reinsurer AXA Global Re, currently expected at the end of June 2022.
