Aurora nabs algorithmic underwriting expert from Brit Lloyd’s syndicate Ki
Aurora, a digital commercial insurance platform for micro, small and medium-sized businesses, has drawn an algorithmic modelling and underwriting expert from Brit’s digital follow-only Lloyd’s syndicate Ki.
Ki Insurance’s Dorota Blaszczuk (pictured) has joined Aurora as head of algorithmic underwriting. Blaszczuk will be responsible for driving the design, development and integration of algorithmic pricing models across the company’s portfolio management teams.
At Ki, Blaszczuk worked in portfolio underwriting, and sat between the algorithmic modelling and algorithmic underwriting teams to optimise its portfolios, using portfolio monitoring and portfolio analysis techniques.
Aurora said it has developed a proprietary algorithmic framework which supports the optimisation of pricing and underwriting. The platform enables the creation and design of bespoke policies that meets end customers’ needs. Blaszczuk’s role will be vital in augmenting Aurora’s existing algorithmic capabilities.
Blaszczuk joins Aurora’s leadership team ahead of the launch of the company’s property and business interruption products in the coming months.
Bijal Patel, co-founder and chief technical officer at Aurora, added: “Dorota will be overseeing the design and development of our algorithmic underwriting framework. With proven expertise in pricing, data-driven portfolio management and algorithmic systems, Dorota has the innovative and collaborative approach needed to create bespoke solutions that meet the needs of our existing and future customers.”
Blaszczuk commented: “I’m very excited to be joining Aurora; to be a part of a proposition that has developed the ability to algorithmically lead small and medium risks is phenomenal. I look forward to working with the team to continue augmenting the design and development of our algorithmic pricing models for the benefit of the Aurora ecosystem.”
