Aspen swoops for ex-Tokio Marine/Swiss Re Asian treaty market veteran
Aspen Insurance Holdings has tapped an industry veteran with years of experience in the Asian treaty market. The former Tokio Marine Kiln executive with a background at Swiss Re and Asia Capital Re will help expand its reinsurance treaty capabilities in the region.
Tay Boon Chuan (pictured) will join Aspen as head of Singapore after 12 years at Tokio Marine Kiln as part of its property treaty reinsurance team, most recently as Asia treaty team lead.
Boon Chuan has more than 23 years’ experience of the Asian re/insurance industry and a deep knowledge of the local treaty market having held positions at Asia Capital Re Group and Swiss Re.
Additionally, as of August 1, 2023, Beatrice Morley will be relocating to the London office to be closer to Aspen’s reinsurance teams and to key casualty markets in London, Europe and the US. She will remain global head of casualty and head of international reinsurance, which now also includes London as part of the international markets.
Christian Dunleavy, group chief underwriting officer, said: “We are thrilled to announce the appointment of industry veteran, Tay Boon Chuan, as Head of Singapore. Boon brings a wealth of experience of the Asian treaty market and will be well-placed to spearhead our well-established offering for the region.
“We are also delighted to have Beatrice join our executive team in London while maintaining her responsibilities as Global Head of Casualty and Head of International Reinsurance. Beatrice’s expanding role is a testament to her significant contribution in helping Aspen develop its successful global reinsurance franchise, and our leading casualty portfolio within this.”
