Aspen Re reshuffles senior leadership team; new Asia and property heads
Aspen has unveiled a further reshuffle of its reinsurance senior management team, appointing new heads of property treaty and Asia-Pacific while its head of global property has relocated.
Beatrice Morley has been appointed AspenRe’s head of Asia-Pacific, in addition to her current role of global head of casualty. The company said Morley will remain based in its Singapore office, reporting to Christian Dunleavy, chief underwriting officer of Aspen Re.
Morley also has been appointed chief executive for the Singapore Branch, subject to MAS approval.
Philip Hough, the former AspenRe Head of AsiaPac, will be returning to Zurich after four years in Singapore. He will continue to focus on his role of global head of property, leading the property strategy across AspenRe and will continue to report to Dunleavy.
Finally, as previously revealed in Intelligent Insurer, Nick Macfarlane joins AspenRe as head of property treaty (London), reporting to Jamie Lewis and is based out of its London office.
Macfarlane was previously head of international treaty at Asia Capital Re and also held senior underwriting roles at MS Amlin. He will step in to head the team that is led by Peter Panayi, who is currently on a leave of absence.
The company’s insurance operations also recently appointed a new group head of outwards reinsurance. Laurie Shane joined Aspen from Markel Corporation where she was managing director of global ceded reinsurance.
Dunleavy said: “We want Aspen to be a business that not only attracts leading talent but supports those individuals in building long-term and successful careers with us. These appointments are testament to this, further strengthening our global reinsurance leadership team.
“We’re pleased to announce Beatrice’s new role, while Phil’s move to Zurich will enable him to focus on his position as Global Head of Property. We’re also delighted to welcome Nick to Aspen and his extensive experience will add further weight to our strong underwriting team in London. Together, these appointments demonstrate both the depth of our internal talent and Aspen’s ability to attract leading external expertise. I look forward to working with Beatrice, Phil and Nick in their new roles.”
