Ascot poaches Everest Re’s insurance CIO to lead tech strategy in US
Re/insurer Ascot Group has snapped up the chief information officer (CIO) from rival Everest Re’s insurance division to drive its technology strategy forward in the US.
Owen Williams (pictured) joins Ascot in the newly created role of CIO, Ascot US, where he will be responsible for leading, developing and evolving the company’s business technology roadmap to support its growth initiatives.
Williams has been involved in the insurance and technology industries for over 30 years and has been in senior executive roles at specialty insurance and reinsurance companies since 2010. He recently served as the CIO for the insurance division at Everest Re Group, where he was instrumental in the development and implementation of technology-related solutions, as well as the assessment and investment in core and strategic platforms.
Previously, Williams held the positions of CIO for Hamilton USA, chief technology officer for Tokio Marine North America Services, and claims chief information officer for Chubb, all of which involved overseeing corporate technology initiatives.
“Ascot is committed to taking a customer-centric, risk-centric and tech-centric approach to all that we do,” said Michael Kerrigan, group chief information officer. “In support of this mission, we continue to invest in the people, technology and data needed to better our understanding of risk and enable a best-in-class customer experience. Owen’s significant experience in delivering transformative technology capabilities at scale will make an immediate impact as we drive our technology strategy forward in the U.S.”
