Ascot launches new trade credit unit with Zurich, Atradius hires
Bermuda domiciled specialist re/insurer Ascot has launched a new trade credit insurance division in the US while appointing senior executives from Atradius and Zurich.
Doug Collins joins Ascot as executive vice president and head of trade credit, and Anthony Barrett as senior vice president of trade credit.
Collins, who will lead all aspects of Ascot’s US trade credit business, has spent the last fourteen years with Atradius, most recently serving as head of risk services for the Americas. Prior to that, he held senior trade credit roles at AIG in North America and Asia, and started his trade credit career with Trade Indemnity Canada.
Barrett is a 33-year veteran of the trade credit insurance industry, most recently spending four years as SVP-head of multi buyer trade credit at Zurich North America and having previously spent ten years in senior roles at Atradius in North America.
“We are delighted to have Doug and Anthony join our team,” said Greg Wolyniec, head of group strategy. “They bring decades of experience and client service to our business and will provide a market leading technology-enabled underwriting and servicing platform to our trade credit brokers and clients.”
Collins and Barrett added: “We are excited to join the Ascot team and launch our business as part of Ascot’s growing US specialty commercial platform. Ascot is an ideal platform for our business providing capital strength of its admitted US paper, forward thinking operational efficiency, and a highly respected underwriting reputation.”
